I grew up in Akron, Ohio and currently live in Hudson with my husband. We are finally empty nesters after our son and daughter both spread their wings to the University of Dayton and beyond. We now are enjoying traveling and visiting casinos all over!

I have been doing hair since 1980, and recently have been with Studio 9 since January of 2017. My favorite thing about being a hair dresser is doing color.
A color & good cut can completely change your look! Hair trends are constantly changing and evolving, which is why I enjoy going to shows and classes that allow me to continue my education.

I have over 7 years of experience as a cosmetologist. My goal as a stylist is to help make people feel better about themselves.

I offer many hair and nail services including hair color, highlights, balayage, hair cutting, perms, facial waxing, shellac manicures, and pedicures. I am also certified in Aqua Hair extensions.

I am a firm believer in on going training to stay up to date on the latest techniques. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, going on hikes, and crafting.

Kate has over five years of salon experience with her speciality in natural nail care. Through hard work and dedication she has achieved Creative Nail Design’s Master Painter. While the majority of her time is spent performing manicures and pedicures, her other interests include but are not limited to: waxing, facials and eyelash extensions.

Kate loves to help educate her clients on proper nail and skin care along with helping them maintain feeling beautiful! When she’s not in the salon you can find her managing the salons social media page, spending time with family, crafting, volunteering with youth, visiting various fairs/festivals or hanging out with her dog, Oakley.

Jennifer Jenkins

Jen has over 12 years of experience in the salon. She is very passionate about her work and loves making people feel their best!

She offers many hair services including, haircut and styles, color, traditional highlighting and balayage, perms, braids and formal styles, as well as facial waxing. She also has a certification for Brazilian Blowout.

Jen continues to learn and perfect her skill by attending trade shows and classes to keep up on the latest techniques! When she is not in the salon, she keeps very busy with her two children and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Meet Carlla Detwiler, owner and stylist of Studio 9 Salon and Spa. Carlla brings nearly 15 years of salon experience to Studio 9, with the ambition to make her clients feel beautiful and pampered. She loves changing someone’s day for the better through an unforgettable salon or spa experience.

When you get to know Carlla, it doesn’t take long to catch her affection for her family. Growing up in a large Italian family of restaurant owners, Carlla credits her parents for the inspiration and support to fulfill her dream of owning her own business. When she is not working, Carlla and her husband Brad enjoy playing outside with their two small sons, Domenik and Daniel. What energizes her the most about her job is that her clients become part of her extended family in the homey atmosphere of Studio 9. To be Carlla’s friend is to be part of her family.

Carlla’s energy and passion for her craft and her community are contagious. She volunteers her talents and time cutting hair for veterans and the homeless in her community. In support for her clients battling breast cancer, she raised over $10,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation in the 2006 and 2012 walks. Every Christmas, Carlla adopts a struggling family to surprise with presents! So many people in her community have been touched by Carlla’s passion to serve others.

As a graduate of Riggs LeMar Beauty College in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Carlla’s forte is giving her clients a first-class hair cut. She is certified in Cinderella Hair Extensions and carries Pureology products at Studio 9. Carlla is eager to welcome you into the Studio 9 Salon and Spa family!

Deb Basinger

Deb is a licensed massage therapist with over 20 years of hands on experience. She graduated from Northern Lights School of Massage Therapy in Minneapolis in 1996 and has continued her education through taking classes in various bodywork modalities.

She strongly believes in the healing power of massage and caters each massage to the personal needs of each client. Deep Tissue, Swedish/Relaxation, Trigger Point, and Hot Stone are Deb’s specialties.

Amanda Blake

I have been behind the chair for 19 years. I graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School with my license and have continued my education over the years with Aveda, Bumble and Bumble, Arrojo, and Deva Curl training.

I truly enjoy making people feel good about themselves and making them look great! I specialize in color, haircuts, keratin, deva curl, and special occasion up-do’s.

Sarah Drope

It is truly not work when you love what you do. I have been in this career for over 12 years now, and could not imagine my life without it and my amazing clients.

After graduating from Aveda Fredric’s Institute of cosmetology in Cincinnati, I worked at a salon in Hudson Ohio for 3 years. It was at this time, when I was offered a job at an Aveda salon in Naples Florida, and decided to move my family down south for a great opportunity. Although Florida was great, Ohio will always be home to my family. We moved back after a few short years.

I have taken many classes all over the country to expand my knowledge. Now, working for myself at Studio 9, I can put to use everything that I have learned and truly take my time with each client, making them feel and look their best!

Linda Bangphonethip

I’m really passionate about my work and believe the integrity of hair is very important. I’ve been behind the chair for 13 years and have had the opportunity to travel all over the country for intensive training to become a facilitator for Redken.

As a Redken Artist I’m responsible for teaching and mentoring other stylists in Redken salons on color, design and business. I also specialize in balayage, color, long hair, formal styles, and extensions.

Cassandra Phelan

I have been in the beauty industry for 15 years. I took my cosmetology training at Cuyahoga falls high school and also Douglas J. Aveda institute. I have worked in salons around the Akron and Cleveland area since 2001.

I enjoy doing hair, skin, nails, eyelash and eyebrow extensions. I have many certifications in each of these services. I enjoy getting to know my clients and making them feel good about how they look.

Kris Viers

Kris has been in the Beauty Industry for over 20+ years. She received her Bachelors in Education and taught Cosmetology in public education for over 10 years, before returning back to the salon full-time.

Kris loves making clients feel beautiful and giving an in depth consultation, going thru the best cut, color and/ or products for their hair and face shape.

In addition to attending Vidal Sassoon in California, she is a certified in the Sahag Cutting System, Cinderella Hair Extensions, and Martin Parson Updo’s.

Kris feels customer service is a lost Art and looks forward to showing you the difference she can make in your overall love for your hair again!

Shannon English

Shannon has been a stylist for 12 years. She graduated from the Brown Aveda Institute. She is certified in HairTalk hair extensions, Keratin Smoothing Treatment and Deva Curl Cutting System. She specializes in crafting the perfect color for each and every client.

Where do we start with Miss Tara? Tara is a longtime friend of Carlla and her right hand girl!

She is the glue that holds everything together and knows what Carlla is thinking before she ever needs to say a word. Tara is the front desk coordinator in the evening and also holds a Manicurist license. She is amazing! Her manicures and Pedicures are the best in town!

Sue Davis

Sue started in the industry in 1992 when she received her Manicurist license. She loved what she was doing so much, that she decided that she wanted to pursue her Cosmetology degree. In 2001, She graduated from Riggs Le Mar Beauty college in Cuyahoga Falls and hasn’t looked back since!

Her favorite thing about what she does is that she can make a person feel amazing from Head to Toe! She loves to make everyone feel beautiful! In her spare time, she is passionate about fitness and enjoys working out and eating healthy. She also teaches a bootcamp class in Twinsburg a few days a week.
